OPPORTUNITY MIXED
EVIDENCE
This report contains a mixed bag of evidence drawn from the Mer-B (Opportunity) Mars rover official imaging science
data. The above first image on the left demonstrates thin weather clouds in the atmosphere and what appears to be
an old large heavily weather worn but originally artificially worked wood timber on the right.
LEFT IMAGE: As many of your know from previous reported evidence and comments, the sky in the Spirit
and Opportunity rover imaging data is of very poor visual quality and demonstrates way too much severe
JPEG compression artifacts effectively cutting way down on resolution and the ability to properly examine
any suspected anomaly evidence. This does save file size space room for their presentation of this material on
the Internet but it also renders the imaging essentially useless for the most part for any close research examination
and analysis and no alternative access to the best raw imaging appears to be available. I've even written them about
getting access but of course received no reply, as expected.
However, the above weather shot of atmospheric clouds appears on the surface to break this cycle by offering
a much smoother sky appearance without the ever prevalent severe JPEG compression artifacts. Can it be?
Unfortunately, the answer is no. So don't get your hopes up for a real look at anything in this image's sky.
RIGHT IMAGE: In the right half of the above first image is what appears to be nothing less than an old large artificially
worked wood timber lying on the ground. Note the appearance of multiple right angle plains down its surface length s
uggesting an original squared geometry typical of large artificially worked wood timbers originally having gone through
a milling process and note the 90º chopped off ends further supporting this consideration. When they try to tell you
that this is just broken off long rock occurring by chance in this elongated geometric shape, take special note of the
clear evidence of many sprung open grain and splits running down its length also very typical of substantially aged and
heavily weather worn and dried out wood timbers lying exposed for long periods of time.
I have seen a lot of visuals like this in my time in lonely places. Especially at shorelines where such heavy construction
timbers sometimes wash up. I am familiar with this look. Of course seeing something like this in a 2-D picture is not
the same as seeing it 3-D in a natural environment. Still, the look is unquestionably there.
The above second image contains three similar visuals from three different images of a perfectly round disc shape on
the ground with a donut size hole in the center. At first glance, it looks a lot like a CD-ROM disc with center hole.
However, I do not believe that this is an object on the ground. Rather the evidence points to this being a depression
pressed into the topsoil surface I suspect by the Mossbauer Spectrometer instrument housing face plate on the IDD
(the Instrument Deployment Device) articulating arm on the Mer-B Opportunity rover and the donut hole shape
by the recessed portion of the center area instrument within the housing face plate.
