2007년 4월 29일 달 표면을 망원경으로 관찰하며 비디오카메라로 촬영하던 이태리의 아마츄어 천문학자 알베르토 마이어(Alberto Meyer) 는 우연히 망원경 시야에서 정체불명의 검은 점을 포착하고 잠시 주시했다

처음에 검은 점이 우주 쓰레기나 비디오카메라 센서에 붙어있는 분말 조각으로 생각한 그는 점이 천천히 특이한 곡선을 그리며 달 표면을 이동하고 있는 것을 확인하고 안정적인 영상을 확보하기 위해 비디오 카메라로 촬영하기 시작했다.

그는 시야를 횡단하는 비행물체가 지구인들이 발사한 인공위성들 가운데 하나라고 추정했지만 물체가 달 표면을 횡단하는 것 같고 크기가 너무 커 인공위성이 아닌 것 같다고 생각했다.

인공위성 궤도 추적 프로그램으로 달 표면에 인공위성이 비행하고 있는가를 확인한 그는 당시 달 주변에 인공위성이 전혀 비행하고 있지 않다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

그는 달과 비행물체의 크기를 대비해 얼마나 큰 물체인지 계산했는데 달 표면에서 이동하는 물체는 지름이 1km가 넘었다.

지난 수년간 천체를 관측해온 알베르토는 우주에 수백만 또는 수십억 종류의 생명체가 살 수 있다고 생각했다.

그는 우주에 있는 모든 행성들도 지구와 똑같은 물리학적 법칙을 따르고 같은 화학적 성분을 지니고 있기 때문에 지구에
세균으로 부터 생명체가 생겨났듯 다른 행성들에도 지구처럼 생명체가 살고 있다고 결론지었다.

알베르토가 촬영한 지름이 1km가 넘는 괴 비행물체는 과연 외계인의 우주선일까?
